Ogre In the Sky (That’s Not Me!)
You picture Me as an Ogre in the sky
who enjoys watching innocent people die
You think I am some sort of tyrant who
will torture those who won’t do all I want them to
but that’s not Me. No, that’s not Me.
You blame Me for the folks who die in scores
of hunger, sicknesses, disasters, countless wars
Cause, after all, you say, if I am God,
why don’t I make all of this madness stop
But that’s not up to Me, it’s not up to Me.
Cause have one fair look around:
food and aid would abound
and it’s surely not I
Who cause the drums of war to sound
You picture Me as this old, mean, unfair Guy
Who blesses all the rich and lets poor people die
Who smiles on those who neatly go to church
and frowns on those who question, doubt and search
but that’s not Me, no that’s not Me
Cause all I am and all I’ve always been
is Love and love alone, though that’s not what you’ve seen
So give Me a chance and just take out the trash
That clutters up your mind & let Me show you that
that’s just not Me, no, that’s not Me
Cause have one fair look around:
All that you need abounds
And if you give it a try
You’ll find what changes you’ll evoke by sharing some of what you’ve found
You picture Me as an Ogre in the sky
who enjoys watching innocent people die
You think I am some sort of tyrant who
will torture those who won’t do all I want them to
but that’s not Me. No, that’s not Me.
